Ethernet is the most popular communication protocol standard used in LAN (Local Area Network) .Fiberall OLT and ONU provide two types of Ethernet ports, one is Gigabit Ethernet ( GE ) , the other is Fast Ethernet(FE), their difference is FE (100BASE, 10/100M) is based on IEEE 802.3u,and GE (1000Base, 10/100/1000M) is based on IEEE 802.3z. There is no difference on the interface, both of them are RJ45. Of course the speed rate of GE is much faster than FE but they are suitable for different device which also based on different protocols or standards, so please pay attention on the equipment you will use with our OLT and ONU in order to avoid the compatibility problem. Nowadays GE is still mainly use in Telecom and FE is more popular in common applications.
